Rimouski, March 1, 2021 – The educational institutions in Eastern Quebec forming the Inter-Order Distance Learning Group (FADIO) are looking back positively on their fourth annual Distance Learning Week (DL), which was held from February 22 to 26. With more than 1,200 registrations, an increase of 258% over last year, this event was by far the most coveted since its inception.

Presented entirely online, DL Week was a collaborative event. More than a dozen partners joined FADIO to share their expertise through various workshops. The 2021 programming focused on several topics of interest in distance education, including evaluation, feedback and the impact of social media on pedagogy.

“It seemed important to us, given the current context, to pay particular attention to the content of the programming this year. The topics presented were chosen wisely, taking into account the needs of the education stakeholders,” explains Mylène Simard, coordinator of FADIO.

Several initiatives have been established by educational institutions since last March, such as training, exploratory workshops on the use of digital tools, support services and communities of practice.

“In addition to what was already on offer, we invited the speakers to present winning practices in distance education and concrete tools to inspire teachers,” she emphasizes.

The event attracted not only education stakeholders from Quebec, but also people from francophone communities in Canada and internationally. This demonstrates a strong interest in distance learning.

It should be noted that Distance Learning Week was made possible in part thanks to the financial participation of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

Next event: Stakeholder Meeting

FADIO is now busy organizing its next event, its Stakeholder Meeting, which will be held in the fall of 2021. The current context will certainly force the organizing committee to rethink the format of the event. However, the organizing committee has not lost sight of the primary objective of the Stakeholder Meeting, which is to create a unique opportunity for participants to exchange ideas, share success stories and improve their distance learning skills. Full details about this event will be shared shortly on the FADIO Website.
